Many pathways, one goal

While we offer several types of assistance, our goal is always the same: to help residents become and remain active members of their community.

RN Coaching

Advocating for a stronger future

Aging in place means being able to remain comfortably in your home and community, regardless of age, finances, or ability.

In 2016, LifeSTEPS managed an RN Coaching Pilot Program, under which a Registered Nurse visited several USA-Properties-owned affordable senior apartment communities every week, helping seniors with their health care needs and allowing them to “age in place” more comfortably and remain connected with their friends.

The forward-thinking program earned the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary’s Healthy Homes Award in 2020, but the program could was not sustainable due to a lack of stable funding.

This helped us identify a new area of need, one that aligns with the mission of the JB Brown Fund to help people remain active, engaged members of their communities. Starting in 2022, a portion of each donation is allocated towards advocacy for sustainable services to help low-income seniors age in place. This includes support for funding for health-related programs like the Pilot RN Coaching program, and more.

For more information on aging-in-place, and examples of initiatives designed to provide sustainable services, see the California Master Plan for Aging. Please note, this link is provided for informational purposes only, and does not constitute an endorsement of any specific initiative.
